Bear with us. 
 
If you notice in the image uploader, click the picture of the tree, and the uploader will appear.  You will see the option to "browse"  Choose the file off your computer and hit "upload".  Your picture will show up in the "Preview" Pane.  If you will notice the "Width" and the "Height" boxes, The size of your picture will be there.  Resize the picture changing the numbers here.  A regular pic shows up best no wider than 400 pictures.  300 pixels height will show this the best on a traditional horizontal pic.  Reverse those numbers for a vertical pic.

Resize to 425 by 252 and you get a nice picture
